Working on my 1974 CT70K3 i bought new forks and installed them, after adding 3.8 oz of 10-40 motor oil (witch i dont think it matters) the issue is with the bike on the bench and no front wheel installed there is movement up & down in the in the forks. its like the spring is not long enough ? what am i missing here. I here you can adjust the forks with shims under the tripple clamp?
Thanks,
Todd

yes all parts are installed, thanks. i think i need to install the front wheel and move the suspension up and down a few times to get the oil circulated.

Since the k3s have the gators over the springs, you probably COULD put some preload spacers in there. I don't remember anyone doing that before, or what you might use for spacers tho.
But if I had slop in a K3 front end, I would be looking to see what's missing...or what's wrong. I don't think there should be slop in there.
If you don't have the correct K2up headlight ears...that could be the problem..?
Missing trim rings...
Missing spring bushings...

the forks came from TB, through Socalminitrial, they were "Dry" when i installed them and had lot of free play, i added 2.0oz oil as i saw in a youtube video and the freeplay was down to 1 1/2 inch then added another .8zo of oil and it better. wonder if i need to add a little more oil?
thanks for your help

Tb says to use 3.5 oz each.
The 80s and 90s CT70 legs have internal springs...they use only 2oz of oil.
By your post...you only have 2.8oz in yours right now.
