Help with wiring ?

I didn't get a horn. I'll have to pick something up. I use 6v horns in all my old volkswagens and run them on 12v. They're just loud as hell.
Mabey these work different, mabey the original one gave out. I bet I can pick something up in the $10 range.

And for people that have been wondering. The little co kite and ski 107 runs like a bat outta hell. I'm impressed with what all I got and how nicely it all went together.
I'm happy with it!!! Now the question is how will it hold up?

clutch cable?

hey did you guys use the stock controls for these lifan's? in the middle of installing a 4 sp manual, seeing where you got a clutch cable etc, i was plainning on using the left lever, but wasn't sure about travel and such.
today looks like im griding down for the engine guard, welding the foot pegs out an extra inch (ko) and tackling the wiring. (my engine did not include any kind of harness, so im going caveman)

this webboard has been an amazing help, thanks!

Steve,

I used an entire "conversion" kit that included new main wiring harness, turn signals, headlight and bucket, tail light, new speedo, new handlebars, levers, controls/switches and cables. Everything plugged right in. I know thats not much of a help to you.

I got everything from this seller on eBay:

I think what happens is that when they import these chinese made clone trail 70's they keep a whole batch of extras for parts. I thionk this seller was selling all those bike parts

yep thats the kit i saw on ebay before, but i couldnt find it again.

well here's what i have.. i was a little scratched up, looks like somebody returned it or something.

looking like wiring will be a nightmare.. no connectors came with it at all! all the the electronics take plug in connectors, so i cant even get into them. he has a wiring harness on auction right now,

but it goes for another 6 days, and seeing i have vacation time here, im pretty frustrated.. ugh. and who knows if that will even work?!?

He is currently out of the complete lighting kits and headlight buckets, I have been e-mailing him for 2 months now to get another one. He says possibly next month.
The wiring harness he has now that you posted a link to just for a clone bike only, it doesnt include and lights or the keys and is pretty much useless unless you have a clone bike to start with

I am currently building my own lighting harness on a CRF-70 dirtbike and putting turnsignals on it.
I used a multifunction switch from DennisKirk,
K & S Universal Turn Signal Switch
Dennis Kirk Part #: 211388
Manufacturer Part #: 120040
Type: Turn Signal
Units: each $61.99

it has everything on it and is better quality than the clone stuff is..
The black clutch lever and cable that came with my engine is perfect for a dirtbike and for clone handlebars, but it may be too big for the closer together stock CT handlebars.
The clutch cable on an original 4 speed bike works withthe lifan engines ,You could put the clutch cable in the brake lever on the bars and try it if your bike was originally an auto bike.

i ended up ordering a wiring harness from dratv, along with all of my new bulbs for going 12v. also grabbed some universal levers from jcwhitney, as my stock ones are shot. new set of bars came with the engine, but no mounting tabs. im not worried about turn signals, i dont think i'll need them.. i just wanna putz around town on this and go to the local bike nights to make fun of the fashion show ;)
i already got my registration and plate, so im anxious to get this rolling. wish that whole wiring kit through colorado kiteski was available, it would have been alot easier! thanks for the tips!

can't get the headlight or taillight to work

The bikes been running great for over two weeks now. So I figure I should get around to putting the headlight and rebuilding the stock tailight (I just can't see putting that huge tailight on the bike.

Here's my problem. I'm looking for live leads (with the headlight switch turned on of course) and I've got no power at any of the headlight or tailight leads.

Does the power come off the battery or the flywheel/ cdi unit. PLease forgive my lack of knowing how the charging system works on this lifan, I understand the 6v but haven't really looked into the lifan system (It works, therefore I haven't torn into it yet:D)

I believe that headlight power is taken directly from the alternator pretty much all CT70 engines, regardless of make. The batteries are pretty small.

Headlight dimmer switch

The knob on the headlight switch is broken off on my Mintrail 81' CT70. Does anyone know if you can purchase just the knob/slider position switch (high beam/low beam) or do you have to purchase the entire assembly?:monkey:
