i have some pics of my ride it is still in the pre project phase and i have asked for help before and i have recieved some good pointers. so i will give you all a brief rundown as to the history of the bike :)
the bike was originally my uncles and he handed it down to me when it had 1200 miles on it and i rode it until it quit on me one day and i thought i could repair it, as a teen ager and so i could not as you could see i got as far as pulling the head and manifold off and removed the piston as well, not knowing any better. so i put it in my dads garage and it sat for a loooooonnnnggggg time like you see in the pics. i have the engine guard and exhaust pipe as well as the spark plug guard. i have lost the keys that went with it and i think i have the head and manifold still. but i think i may need to get a new one other than that it is all still there for the most part. i know i will have to tear it down eventually but it will take me some time to do that.
also has any one had success riding in the winter time in the northern climates (canada and alaska?)thanks
bill

man, that bike was riden hard and put away wet!wow only 1700 miles.i put that on one of mine in 7 months.i would build the original head if possible.get new valve springs,HD springs are available.the complete heads are china copys and not so good i have heard, maybe take the whole bike all apart, clean all the parts.the paint looks ok.i would polish it up and remove the old emblems with a heat gun.original honda emblems are still available.paint the headlight bucket.or buy one from trailbikes.com painted ruby red already.repaint the wheels and engine side covers silver.get a 88cc kit and carb + a k&n filter.maybe some new tires and tubes.also a nice original seat cover would top it all off.it's a nice project you have.enjoy!

I've ridden a bunch in Canada in the winter. But it was on a 750 on the streets in college in Edmonton. Not the smartest thing I've done in my life but a ton of fun. Sanity and college are kind of mutually exclusive. Have fun on your bike when you get it running.

Mini, I hail from the Seattle area, but have been to Alaska a many of times and in many of different seasons. These lower 48ers don't have a clue what bad weather is. I here all the mid-westerners talk about their cold winters-You don't know cold until you get off an airplane in Fairbanks and have that -49 dry cold hit you square in the face.

That bike looks GOOOOODDDDDD for an Alaskcan bike. Have any of you ever Googled the Alcan Highway. 5,000 miles of Ugly!

Dodging Moose, bear and every other critter that walks out from behind a tree, garbage dumpster is a full time job up there-and that's in downtown Anchorage.

Don't go crazy on it if you want to ride it again or it will be money down the tube.

Good luck.:36:
