Hitachi vs. Mitsubishi, again...

Hello all, been several years since I have posted, but I lurk here almost every day. I know this has been covered many, many times, but I need some help or advice. I recently picked up a Candy Blue Green HK0 with 800 original miles. It literally was sitting in a barn, uncovered . Bike is quite crusty but the bones are good. It hadn't run in 15 or so years according to the PO. I did the carb, replaced the intake valve, set the valve clearances, point gap, etc. It actually started and ran surprisingly well, but the spark was a bit weak and it took many kicks to start, so I ordered points and a condenser, and that is where my issues begin. It has the typical F120 Hitachi flywheel, but when went to install the new condenser, it was too long and has a different mounting base. Upon closer inspection, I realized it was a Mitsubishi stator plate and coils. It has the Mitsu emblem and the FAZ... numbers stamped on it. I have a junk K0 3 speed engine, so I measured the coil mounting holes to verify, and it confirms my new bike has a Mitsu stator assy. with a Hitachi flywheel. Im guessing the greater air gap may be the cause of the starting issues. So my main question is- can I simply take the Hitachi stator assy. off of the junk 3 speed motor and use it on the 4 speed, or will that not work? From what I read it sounds like the 4 speed stator plates and coils are different from the 3 speeds, but I am grasping at straws here looking for a solution...or does anyone have some suggestions? I imagine a correct 4 speed Mitsu flywheel is like finding a unicorn. Thank you and sorry for the long post.

3spd taper and four spd taper are different. You can source a Mitsu flywheel from a Ct70H, SL70, XL70, CL70.
