This Trail Jet I got yesterday is in pretty decent shape, my buddy gave it to me.
It looks to be 1967-69 somewhere in this time frame... not sure yet.
My question is... the Trail Jet is different than the Z50A, it has some different stuff on it... a headlight, a horn, a taillight, mirrors, and the seat is spring loaded!! It has a suspension seat, thats funny. It says Trail Jet on the round emblem on the tank, and also TRAIL JET on the back of the seat.

The left case says HONDA on it, but it's like an older Honda lettering.. its not the normal HONDA font used today.

The right side of the case looks different than the Z50s also, and I'm sure there are other differences too.

I want to restore this sucker. I'm just getting into
this and I need more info about this bike.

Thanks

Somebody told me a Trail Jet was Honda's early version of the 1968 Z50A... a limited production version thats very rare.
I'll find out the exact year, and get some pics.

It has the early style tank, but the engine is def. different..
and the whole spring seat thing.

Yes, it does look like that. You can see the spring seat, and mine also has a light, horn, and mirrors.. .it all oringinal. Needs some TLC but I'm gonna strip her down and start over. Full rebuild.

The trailjet had nothing to do with Honda. The one on ebay had a C110 cub (50cc) pushrod motor in it.

Honda started with the Z100 in 1961, 1963 was the CZ100, 1967 was the Z50M, and 1968 was the first year in the USA.

Happ Jones Victor, Trailjet and other Taiwan companies made a replica pushrod cub engine that was spec'd in their bikes and over the years people replaced these with Honda engines.

Post up the serial number on your engine. It should be under the shifter on a small square plate. I'll tell you what the engine is from if it's a honda engine.
