Need help with '72 K1 CT70

I did not pull any wires off, I did not make sure the piston was all the way up, I will go double check right now. But a small square or pink gasket like material did fall on the ground from the bike when the flywheel came off ( Anti-contact pad ??? ) and i don't know were it came from. It looks like the points have never been touched before, but everything is old and brittle and a little rusty in some spots. I will check it out and let you know.

probably the points cam felt,it sits in a fork type slot to the right of the crank, to rub on the points cam and should be lightly greased.fine sandpaper will take care of the rust inside the flywheel.

Ok, the little pink part is some of the filler between the two large copper things, don,t know the name of them. I did check and the piston is up, and flywheel aligned correctly, points gapped correctlyand opening and closing when and where they should, but still no spark. I inspected every wire for a possible ground or short. The whole reason i am even tearing into it is because of very poor performance, i am beginning to think the coil was going out the whole time and finally died good compression, right fuel mixter and poor performance ,,,,,, maybe coil was weak ?????

The copper parts are the coil windings; 1 for lighting, the other for ignition. You'll need to check and see if either are shorted to the frame of the bike.

how do I check for this

Also can I Use a test light to check any of this stuff?

this may be why your not getting spark now.do yourself a big favor and buy a new set.this way you dont have to keep pulling the flywheel off.i recomend getting the flywheel nut good and tight.

Both coils should have about 0.5Ω resistance end to end (cables disconnected). With the wires disconnected, there should be no continuity between any of the wires and the stator plate (what the coils mount to). Be sure to not use a hammer or other blunt object in the removal of your flywheel as it will be ruined.

Ray,i see your absorbing info from Markus.cool.he calls em cables.unplug the wire harness from the stator plug,is how i say it.i have found 0.8 on a known good stator,phillips head screw to phillips head screw on each coil.i really dont think that is his situation,as he states the bike ran poor before adjusting old points.

Astute. Didn't know how to pull it out of the sm having some attachment sizing issues. Also didn't know how to pull it out of Markus' post as a quote. If the insulation of the coil is breaking down, the coil could be shorting to the stator plate and therefor no spark. Weak before, dead now? Very possible now that we've had screwdrivers in and out of the windows of the mag adjusting the points.
