Hey, I bought a real clean trail 90 Rupp last weekend. Its a nice clean bike, has bad blinker arms. I guess thats pretty typical of these. Anyway I was browsing a bit for some fresh assy's. I would rather put some better units on the bike. I also do not like the taillight and rear plastic fender assy and am curious if I can possible use an older unit without too many modifications to the bike?

I did see a taillight and blinkers assy on Trail-buddy site with the older style taillight and problably better blinkers, but I am not sure if it will fit the bike and of course it out of stock. I'd also like to do something about that terrible plastic chainguard if possible

heres the bike:

I just got rid of one. 3000 maintance free miles. Change the rear gear to one of off a 3 speed ct70. That really helps the top speed.

I Bought a set of these turn signals below for my 08 Lifan.
CHROME TURN SIGNALS MINI CHOPPER PANDA MOPED SCOOTER:eBay Motors (item 390109513711 end time Oct-30-09 11:00:32 PDT)

They are real sharp looking and where simple plug and play.
Look way better on the bike as well. The Stock ones broke at the rubber section.

If you plan on riding it a bunch on the street I would keep the rear fender. That is a earlier bike with the thin cir-clip land area so I would swap the rear hub out with a newer clone hub or find a nice used honda hub. That is, if it has not been done already.

Nice little bike! Whats the left side engine cover say on it?

I remember something about Mickey Rupp having a Shit fit over these and had them stopped pretty quick.

Heres a link to Advrider. A guy there has some neat brochures from
when they where importing them.

Rupp CT70 clone info? - ADVrider

Thanks for the link to the blinkers, I saw that seller before but only saw the black square ones, I just ordered the chrome ones and a wide footpeg assy he also sells as this bike has the skinny ones on it and its a bitch on the right side to keep your foot on it! plus it needed new foot pegs as these just disintegrated (really crappy rubber all over this bike)

left side cover has the Rupp name cast into it, I guess I better be careful with that!

I'll have to check into the hub as suggested and I definitly want to change the gearing, I'm in FL and in a very flat sea level area so I don't need the climbing gears but I do need to keep up with traffic! I don't think the hub has ever been upgraded but I know that the rear swingarm was. I guess they bent easy with the torque as the original owner had it replaced right away with one that has some gussets on it after the original bent a bit.

One of the only reasons I bought it was the Rupp name, this one came with the literature etc.. and a clean FL title as well.

I dunno what the truth is to Mick Rupp going after them I have read that online as well. I know I would would be pissed about to though If I was in his shoes. At least they did put some effort into these bikes and not just slap a sticker on it and call it good.

Its a far cry from the orginal Rupp scamblers, Heres my '70 that I just about have fully restored:
