Nuts and bolts...

What do you all do when it comes to dealing wiht the nuts, washers and bolts that are rusted and tarnished. In this case I'm rebuilding the wheels on a ct 70 and wondering if it makes sense to spend the time to clean up the rim fastners, etc.or just buy new one at the local hardware store... If so I,m thinking stainless... Thoughts? Oh and this is not a resto this is a learning curve project.

thanks s.

If you've got a bench grinder, then put a large wire wheel on it; that'll take the rust off of any nut, bolt or washer and make it look like new.

If you don't care about a 100 point rebuild in your restoration project, just go to Home Depot, Lowes or Ace True Value and you can get all the nuts/bolts you need.

If you are concerned about it, as Bob M. says, DrATV has the Japanese nuts/bolts for the rims with the little "8" stamped on them.
