that bike is going to look great when done. the devil is in the details. as for going fast, a nice tail wind going downhill is nice to have. I sometimes forget what I am riding and try to find 3rd gear.

thanks to your restoration, I am inspired to paint the 'honda' on my fuel tank strap white again. it really would take it to the next level.

keep up the awesome work.

Next i started in on the seat. Ive had the new foam and cover for awhile now, and now that the pan and brackets
were painted i might as well put um together. Easier said then done lol . Im sure most of you have tackled recovering a seat but you have to admit ,it fights you all the way :18: I managed after pulling and tugging for some time to get it done.

any tips or tricks for painting the rubber-band on the tank? what kind of paint did you use?

i didnt paint it i cleaned it with armor-all. i didnt paint the honda yellow it was like that. Like i said its not perfect ,but i have had good results with plastic spray paint from auto zone for discolored and fading bumpers, that might work if yours is real bad. Also ive seen at harbor fright buffing wheel compound for rubber and plastic dont know what that would do though.

I set up a table in the clean room (extra bedroom/laundry room lol) for assembly of the frame. The garage is to
tight now with the broken jeep in the way.
I cleaned up the forks greased them for assembly and replaced the fork boots. Then mated them together.
Next ill start in on the wheels after the swap-meet tomorrow hope i find something good this time!

Now that the frame is ready receive the motor it was time to work on the motor rebuild.
I checked the trans for the infamous second gear slip. I mocked up the gears in the case and shifted it threw the gears and it showed all the sings of slipping out bad:39: So after looking threw the tech threads (http://lilhonda.com/webboard/f6/trans-guru-qa-50-2nd-gear-fix-needed-8075/) here on how the fix the problem heres how it turned out.
IMAG0227.jpgIMAG0230.jpgIMAG0244.jpg

Before IMAG0228.jpgIMAG0229.jpg

I took the shift cam and ground the second gear notch over and ground the shift paw round on two edges
so it would move deeper in the slot. It now grabs 3/4 of the gear and should stay engaged. Ill prob fine tune
it befor im done.

i must have got my parts last year before the prices went up. Nice tank with good paint for $50. Good used front-rear fenders for $115. The big hit was the new muffler and diffuser pipe and fastener kit for the heatshield. Well worth the money for a new exhaust that will outlast me.

I like your work, but the choice of using the original tires has me troubled. old shoe laces on new shoes. new ones would make that QA pop!

I agree with you completely i just haven't been able to find new tires that look like the originals.
Ive been waiting for the rings to come in meanwhile......

Yea sometimes the little stuff is cool (buffed valve stems). I love the stick used to balance your all your hard work. Thats so funny....I'm sure we could start a picture thread on good bike stands gone bad. Here's a photo of one of my MacGyver stands. Not sure what I was thinking but it worked.
