My friend and I have about 9 CT-70 bikes. I am wanting to restore about 4 of them immediately. I've been reading this forum like crazy for a few days (I love all the pictures), and I have the following questions:

1. Is there a package deal or list of parts for all rubber parts, all wires, seat, reflectors, tail light, etc.? Basically, all of the parts that fade, crack, or just plain can't be sanded and repainted. Everything needs replacing on every bike we have.

2. I have the suspicion that these bikes have had some "frankenstein" work done to them. Where can I learn what parts should be on each bike? For instance, I have two bikes from 1971, but they have different front forks...but they both look factory. Makes me think that there were more than one type coming out that year? Can I tell specifically from the serial number?

3. I don't need top speed. What would be the best route for engines? New Chinese, rebuild originals, ect? I've got four good core engines to work with, but I'm not wanting to rebuild them myself.

My plan is to do everything the way it came from the factory, with the exception of tires.

Here is the shop manual from DrATV. He also has schematics for just about every piece on CT's so you can see what is missing.

I have ordered many parts from this website and I have never heard anything negative come from these guys.

CHP has a package deal on cables
Honda CT70 Honda 70 Honda Minitrail NOS Parts and services Kitaco and Takegawa performance parts classic honda minitrails.
They also have just about every part you would ever need

Bike Bandit has a huge amount of New Old Stock (NOS) parts as well as schematics to everything
1970 Honda CT70 Parts, 1970 Honda CT70 OEM Parts - BikeBandit.com

As for your engines either path would be a good one. Lifan engines are a good alternative to the stock honda engine, but if your looking for originality then obviously a chinese engine wouldn't be the best option. There are some people on this forum that work wonders with these 40+ year old engines, making them look, and run, just like they rolled off the showroom floor.

Yikes, it looks like over one thousand for miscellaneous parts i added up. Not to mention that I need a new front fork. There are a lot of nice "billet" ones out there, but I like the look of the old ones. Are there replacement forks for KO models, or do I just need to find some nice used ones?

figure 2500 depending on engine condition per bike to get one in in good rider/respectable order, not concorse.if you want 4 right away plan on spending about ten grand.there really isnt much in the way of package deals for parts.i would try to stay with the original engines for a better resale in the future.now is a good time to research how much nice examples are selling for.that would be a good idea to make your decisions.

If I were in your position I would sell the bikes you dont want to fund the restoration of the 4 you do. Take as many parts as you can from the other bikes to use in the restoration. By the looks of it you probably have a pair of straight forks laying around :21:

Ultimately the choice is yours. Just giving you my 2 cents
