Rear tail light

evening,

Should my CT70 K0 tail light always be lit and then when I hit the brake it gets brighter? Like a car? My tail light only lights when I hit the brake.

Thanks

Position one on the ignition switch your tail light should only light up when the brake is applied.
Position two the brake light should be on and the brake should get brighter when you apply the brake.

Check to see you have the right ignition switch. Oh and also see that you have a dual filament bulb in the taillight.

Quick question - do all CT70's have a 2 position ignition switch? Mines a 1979 and I'd swear that mines either only ON or OFF instead of having three settings: OFF, Position One, Position Two.

In the meantime, Kobwo - any luck solving your problem?

2 position switch is correct for a 79, 2 position switch started in 77. Your headlight should be on as long as key is on and motor running

small panic wave has passed now - thanks! Similar to Kobwo, I'm working through electrical stuff and doing research. Saw the note about 2 positions and started to think that in all my testing / research that I'd overlooked something major. Glad to know that everything is correct from that aspect on my bike.

Hello Corey,

So I put in a new bulb and still didn’t have a rear runnng light. I made sure all of my grounds were good and had voltage to the socket. So, I bought a “new”new bulb and lo and behold.....I have a rear light now. It also turns on the second element when I hit the breaks. Also, my ignition switch is correct with an off and 2 other positions.
