Shifting a lifan 125 semi...

Guys I dont want to sound like a noob here, been riding my entire life, but I dont remember it being like this on the honda engine and trans set up.

Basically when Im driving my ct70 with the lifan swap, I have to be very quick with shifting to the next gear or it wont go in. I remember being able to fully let off the throttle and having it go into the next gear on my old 71 ct70 , but this lifan seems like it needs to have slight rev to get it to shift smoothly.

I can run out a gear, and pause for a second and then shift, as soon as I let off the gas I need to go right in with out hesitation or ill be fighting to get it in the next gear.

Is this common?

73AMC,
I am no expert by any means, but it sounds to me like something is wrong with your clutch. It sounds as though it is not disengaging when you use the shifter. There are some videos on youtube that will help explain how to adjust your clutch and I would try that first and see if it helps if not you may have to pull the cover and do an inspection. There are also Manuals that can be downloaded on line that will give you a parts breakdown. If it is not a clutch adjustment then something could have come loose or there could be a problem with your clutch basket. There are a lot of replacement parts around for cheap.

Hope that helps

Yeah, I tried that a couple times, thinking that's what it was. I guess I can try again, but I adjusted it and it didnt seem to help.

What should I look for exactly? Anything that would stick out in your mind?

73AMC,
I would pull the clutch side cover off and have a look. Could be a lot of stuff. Clutch basket could be loose or broken or a number of things.
