ST90 running gear components on CT70?

I've noticed on a local craigslist type classified ads listing, an ST90 roller with the top end of the engine entirely missing, for parts.

So far i've been fooling around with the CT70's, and the C70 Passports. By the time i am done my 2nd CT70 project, i will still have enough CT70 remains to still put something else together, minus components of the running gear.

I guess the question de jour would be, what compatability is there, to combine the front and rear end of the ST90 (Forks, triple tree, swingarm and rear shocks) with the frame of the CT70 series?

I'm thinking it'd be kind of neat to build a hybrid-mongrol "CST-70" out of the remains that'll be cluttering up the garage once the current round of projects are done - but don't want to jump on the ST90 roller, unless it can be used.

I seem to remember seeing a thread with photos of a dark red CT70 that a new owner picked up and it already had ST90 forks, swingarm and big spoked wheels. For whatever reason it had a sprocket welded to the original sprocket. sound familiar?

Sorry I can't recall the owners name; just that it was red and in Oregon. Maybe someone remembers that thread or owners name. I can't confirm that this was a strictly bolt-on conversion but the idea of increased ride height and suspension travel sounds pretty appealing to me for a spare parts trail basher.

To the best of my knowlege, the frame is all you have to change. The 90 is a 3 bolt mount and the 70 is a 2 bolt.
I have a few 90 engines.I'll have to look at them and see what's still good if you need parts for yours.

The blue one is ST 90 components on a 70 frame w a Yamaha front fender modified and mounted on the rear. This bike was stolen several years ago.

The ST here, has less than 500 miles on it.

I am not sure that you can put the ST90 front end on a CT70. The ST90 triple tree and stem setup is more like that of the CT90 with a flip lever deely on it. I believe the stem is bigger (at least longer) on the 90. Anything can be done...just a matter of modification. If you end up picking the ST up, I believe I have whatever you would need for the 90 engine. Those engines are just oddballs is many ways.

Thanks for the input, guys.

I decided against picking the parts bike up - his asking price is a little too high, and my garage is a little too full considering i have a few projects already ahead, of a possible mongrol CT70/ST90 project.

I think if i want an ST90, i'll just pick one up that is intact and all there, rather than mess around with a mongrol.

Thanks though!
