Stranded in Iowa

Anyone remember the Manfred Mann song: Stranded in Iowa. Well, here it is

Went out to get my wife and daughter stuck in a drift, then did it myself. Sat out there for 6 hrs. before the grader came through :102:.
Yep, that's my truck as seen 40 yds. from the car. At times we couldn't see it with the 50mph whiteout.
Those of us that grew up in Runnells like hearing the song as it's mentioned at the beginning. "Runnells way". Funny thing: I walked up to the grader when he rolled up and waddia know, a good ole Runnells boy at the controls :77:. A familiar face to get us out of a bad situation.
The snow drift was so hard that when he pulled me out my front end popped up and the truck rolled over the top.
12" and 50mph winds is a recipe for "Stranded in Iowa"

The internet kept going out with the power flickering. There was areas without power all day yesterday. Seems like all is calm this morning. 10* though
Yes the squad made it to us and we could smile again.
That song was written about an area just east of Des Moines. A couple miles from where we were sitting.

Wasn't any different for us on the east side of the state. Had to shovel 3 times to keep up with it and ya, the wind was a B. Didn't get stuck in any drifts though. :) Glad you had no injuries to report.

No injuries. I did hear a lady your way was killed when she got out of her car. You know, I was a little scared for my life laying in the snow and digging to get the tow strap hooked to the car. This is a highly traveled state rd., but the thing is; The six hrs. we were there nothing got through.
The wind... my eyes still feel wind burned.
