Time to sort these out.

That throttle is completely normal. You'll get used to it.lol
One time I had one that started to retract on its own....bad news. The throttle slide came off while I was riding and I nearly wiped out. The tiny screw head that holds everything together had worn or broke off. That screw head does rub up against the throttle grip causing friction. The inner ring can also cut into the screw, just under the screw head itself. Tons of miles and wheelies are hard on that screw.lol

Update and advice.

Ok, I'm slow but moving forward. Got the carb rebuilt, tank cleaned, fuel lines replaced. On to the oil spinner service. Props to cjpayne step by step tech post for this service. The impact driver, what can I say is worth it's weight in gold... Anyway it did take some serious impacts to break loose the case, especially the internal plate that holds the bearing. The inside looked really good, with some minimal sludge build up. Screen was super clean.

I did encounter a problem. Hitting the clutch plate screws with the impact driver took some pretty substantial blows to get them to break loose. (I did pick up the allen head replacements screws from McMaster) I heard a tinkling sound after the impact that finally loosened the last screw. (of course) I believe one of the clutch rings dis lodged (see pic). I am thinking I now need to pull the clutch to fix this? If I do... of course I need to get the clutch tool that I don't have lol (gotta love this process!!) Am I correct in assuming this? The clutch cover gasket is a bit brittle, I picked up a replacement before I started. Also I noticed the clutch plate gasket is thin and oval at the screw holes... So am I done for the day?... If so I will order the clutch tool and additional gasket. Drats. FYI.. no experience removing and assembling a clutch basket... ha!, wonder how this will play out lol.

Thanks for any guidance moving forward, much appreciated.

You've knocked the retaining ring out that holds the plates in. No big deal, but the clutch now has to be removed, so it can be reinstalled.
As long as the plate gasket isnt torn or damaged, I reuse them.

Thanks for both pieces of advice...I know the bike was in neutral when I started per your instructions maybe I must of hit the shift lever. will see if I can put it back in neutral... thanks again
That clutch retaining ring that came loose, may have gotten caught in the primary gears.
