Trashed HK0 frame…..

I picked this frame up off eBay a while back, finally around to making an effort to bring it back to life. Blew the frame apart to make pounding dents out easier. Because it will never be straight, it’s the perfect frame for a ratty custom chopper build. I’m going for long and low.

The bolts will definitely be left, but I’m unsure if I like the look of that many exposed threads. I may pull the bolts and turn them around, so you see the hex head. Not sure yet.

I like the exposed ones, kind of a steampunk look to it. 50's british cars used what they called a cone point bolt- do something like that in stainless and maybe polish them up and shorten them up so that nut stops by the last thread and leaves the point out? I think this is a very creative way to build a bike and saves a frame that someone else without a vision would just throw out.

I like the exposed nut and thread look too. But another option that would be extremely strong and have a cool clean look would be these magna grip rivets, also known as huck rivets. They are widely used in the heavy truck and coach business and the aircraft industry. Ski-doo snowmobiles use them to hold the front frame together. I install lots of them for collision repairs when sledders try to remove trees at 50+ mph. Also just about every UPS or FEDEX panel truck is held together with them. If you know someone who works at a heavy truck collision shop, chances are they would have the heavy duty rivet gun needed to install them for you. Once installed, it will never work loose like a regular nut and bolt!

There is enough threads left to throw some chrome bullet cap nuts for even more of the chopper look. Not a fan of exposed threads here, either...
That bike is going to be FUN! 212cc power! He he.
