I got the engine back together. I measured the OE piston and it measured within spec, new rings and back in it went. As a side note every aftermarket piston I’ve gotten over the years doesn’t have the smooth skirts like the OE ones do. The aftermarket ones have small ridges that almost look like that have been turned on a lathe.
It got a new timing chain as well and a set of the DRATV rocker arms.
After running it and re-adjusting the valves after it sat overnight I think all is well. It sounds pretty good.
