001.jpg002.jpg010.jpg012.jpgJust finished my paint job this weekend and the minitrail 70 paint kit work just great.I was surprised to find out that there was plenty enough paint.I painted a couple of cars in the past and this was a whole lot easier. Just mix and spray. Dave-396

I'm glad yours turned out good, mine looks like crap! The primer and basecoat went on without any problems, the candy coat was another story, it ran like water and where it did spray good it blistered later on. So now my $100 sandblasted frame has to be coated with paint stripper (wife won't let pay to get it sandblasted again and she's pissed that I blew $148 for the paint kit) now I get to look forward to scraping and sanding to remove all of the paint. Not sure why the candy coat didn't work right, it just acted like it didn't want to stick to the basecoat, and I had to keep going over it to get it to cover. Anyway I will try again after Christmas, it will probably take that long just to scrape off all the layers of paint i put on that frame.

Neal, you're not alone. Some swear by these cheap paint kits, others have experienced the same thing regarding the runny, watery "candy". If you are after a quick fix and "get what you pay for" paint kit, go get it. When you have HOK and or PPG out there, why would you opt for a cheap ass paint kit? Spend all this money restoring engines, re-chroming, buying Honda parts and then cut the corners on one of the most important parts in the restoration process. Hmmmmm???

Hymie I got it because I was trying to get close to an original color as possible, I wish I had seen where people were complaining about his paint. The only problems I saw was that his shipping was slow and he was hard to get a hold of. Guess I learned my lesson, next time I buy i'll look at HOK.

I too made the mistake of using a "paint kit", wow, was that a mistake. Had to pay the painter almost another $600 to re-blast and then go get HOK paint and re-shoot. It was a nightmare, but a true learning experience for sure. Good luck!

I am assuming in all the cases the vendor was contacted regarding poor performance. When I emailed both of them regarding questions I had they both responded quickly. Not sure which paint kit everyone had issues with but House of Kolor is owned by Valspar. From what ct70paint is claiming on the website they use Valspar not sure if they have any custom match or just using standard colors. With all these issues I am going to my local auto paint store who carries both House of Kolor and PPG. If I have to bring in a part for them to match so be it, I will save the freight cost.

Please Note, ct70paint.com uses House of Kolors for their candies and basecoat. We do custom mix all our paint from standard color stock to match the OME Honda colors. Anyone buying straight colors will find the colors darker or lighter than OME colors, they must be custom mix to achieve the proper color.

Paint Kits are the way to go, you will spend over $300.00 using HOK product, simply because there the best and you must buy in volume. Paint Kits provide everything you need at the cheapest cost. We will send you a free painted sample of our finished product for you to compare.
