What are these 2 hoses that are just hanging loose??

Hi,

Just got a new ct70 50cc clone.... runs great so far.. but i notice 2 hoses that just seem to be hanging.. is this correct or do they plug into something..

One is the carb bowl drain line and the other appears to be the vent line at the top. They are designed to route fuel away from the hot motor when the bike gets laid over, the carb overflows, or you are draining the carb to preform maint. They don't get connected on the lower ends, just ensure they are secure so they don't flap around when you're riding.

the 1st hose, the lower cable, carb bowl drain line is dripping fuel now.. just started?? bike was not laid down..... i have never turned off the fuel switch... but now i've been doing that since its leaking.. is this normal or is there something i can do to fix it?? only thing i did around that area was remove air filter and clean it..

No- Not normal. Some reason or another the float valve is not closing completely. Gonna take some inspection: Float filled with gas due to crack? Crap under the seat of the needle valve?
Oh no! You removed the air filter and cleaned it? JK- should be fairly simple to figure out once you get in there and look. Also not a bad idea to turn off the gas valve when you aren't running the bike.
That could be the problem

ok.. time to get dirty.. gonna be first time messing with the carbs for me.. question... do i need to remove the whole carburetor from the bike or can i just remove the carb bowl and inspect it that way??

Pull it off. You'll want to see the insides- good experience anyhow. There is no magic in there. Any problems just holler. Might not be a bad idea to find an exploded view before you start.
Draw a sketch of it or take a picture otherwise just so you know how to get it back together. Don't sweat it

thanks.. i will remove it tomorrow and mess with it.. .. i also just found a CT70 Shop Manual in PDF format online today.. if anyone wants a copy... i'll try to upload it somewhere.. let me know..

Learn to love your Carb. All its little passageways - orifices - removeable and replaceable parts - become one with the force Luke.

Soak it in a gallon of cleaner - replace all gaskets, seals, etc. that come with rebuild kits.

Once you become One with the Carb - your life will a much more enjoyable space.

Running some sea foam in a tank of gas (or just running some fresh gas) and (gently but authoritatively) tapping on the carb fixed the same problem on my cx500.

Sometimes carbs get a little gummy and things stick. I doubt you need to disassemble--but don't let that stop you. Its easier to learn a working carb than a broken one.

hey guys..

well this is what happened.. i was about to tear apart the carb to inspect it, but first, i started messing with the throttle stop screw and the pilot screw, because my idle was kinda high.. after that, took it for several test runs... and noticed the gas wasn't leaking from the carb anymore... not sure if knocking around the carb as "kahnowerh" stated helped.. but all seems fine for now.. been running the bike everyday and no leaks as of yet.. but i am still curious to mess with the carb, so one day, if i am bored, i may just decide to take it apart to clean it...
