Z50A K5 Case Question

My mechanic suggested that I not "split" the case. He says those parts don't tend to wear out. Is this true? And if so, I would still like to repaint/refinish the case. Any tips on doing this without splitting it?

Well on z50's the parts inside the cases dont often wear out, but do take a good look at the crank bearings/main and countershaft bearings. Splitting the cases isnt a big headache, if you have a gasket set it takes no more then 20-30 mins to split the case remove the crank assembly and inspect all the bearings, after your satisfied throw it all back together and done.
