I started one of these threads on another forum i frequent and it works pretty well. Works good for sharing those little things we do to or with our lil' Honda's that isn't necessarily worth a whole new thread.

So, feel free to post up with a pic or lil' story about what you did with your CT70 :red70:

I'll start......

Road the bike to wortk (i work pretty close the house) and even ran some errands at lunch ! Also received an order from CHP today, got the upgraded battery they offer and installed it. Now my turn signals and brake light functions properly. Even rode the lil' bastard up to the local autoparts store and bought a replacement taillight bulb. Having a blast zipping around town on it ! Also installed the chrome side handle they offer. Great quality and ergonomically correct too. They seemed to have the best price on it as well. $19

Looks good, and even found some chrome 6mm bolts to attach it with at the local ACE

I'm on vacation 1100 miles from home. Found a 70 KO engine on CL in Wyoming for 100 bills so I stopped on my way through to take a look as it was only 2 miles out of my way. Couldn't pass it up, the guy had swapped it out for a 125cc years ago and let me have the engine complete with intake manifold and carb, coil, harness, battery, 6v bulbs, rear 44t sprocket, kick and shifter arms, and airbox. Everything is in real decent shape. The guy thought it was from a 69 but the S/N is 126312 so it's actually from a 1970.

I think this thread is a great idea and will be long lived. I look forward to writing and reading through posts here.

Glad you like it. My other forum i started it on, it may be the biggest, most active thread, if not it's the 2nd. I started it 3 years ago and it has over 4,000 posts and 82,000+ views.

Soon to be working on mine :(

Lost spark and have done all the checks and replacements (except stator coil) needed for correction but still nothing so Im about to just go with a 12V CDI and call it a day.

Continuing to perfect mine,... i worked on getting it running better. It's always ran a little fat up top. Checked the plug today and it was black and sooty. Too much fuel. Checking in the manual showed to changed the needle depth in the carb to lean it out. I went one notch up and now it runs much smoother under load and at cruise speed. Still only pulling about 38 mph but it's much smoother. No more popping/sputtering going down the road.

Will play with it more tomorrow and see what the mixture screw on the carb does for it......

Having a blast buzzing around town on this thing !

Rode my 78 to the gas station and got a dirty look from a Harley rider when three other customers looked my near mint CT70 over and didn't pay any mind to his 10,000 dollar hog. Don't you just love that?:19:

Walked through the garage today at after work and looked over at the CT and my Roarrunner 'vert and thought " I am a lazy bastard". Just didn't feel like getting either out. Sat down in the A/C and popped a beer... My Son In law's birthday is this weekend and my wife asked him what he wanted. He said " Jim's Orange Scooter in the garage!" Not, Not, Not gonna happen. :21:

I put in a new steel gas tank in my 73 CT70, new fuel lines, new carb, and new plug. Started in a few kicks but then died soon after....seems as if I need to make some adjustments to the carb plus my throttle cable is too long....anybody know where to get adjustable throttle cable ends? I suck at soldering. Anyway, got it started again a few hours later, cruised it around my property in first gear just to say I rode it....muffler is getting really hot now.....but it starts first or second kick....put it away as the sun was going down......looked at it for about 20 minutes then sighed as I went inside.....I hope to be a better mechanic some day and with a place to learn like these forums, I am sure it will happen.....until then....I will ride around in first gear going slow and having fun until I can learn the art of fine tuning a carb correctly.

Brought another home tonite. Picked up the '78 i had talked about recently in another thread. Unloaded it, checked for spark, and did a compression test while the plug was out,.... all systems go at that point so i put a splash of starting fluid in while the plug was out. Kicked him a couple times and tickety tick tick, he came to life. Ran smooth but major noise from the engine. Quickly confirred with the previous owner, (long time acquaintance/friend) and he said maybe he had the valves too loose. So, a quick crash course in valve adjustment and i found the valves WAAAAAY the hell out. I think he accidentally grabbed the 0.50" feeler gauge instead of 0.050" After properly set, the motor purred like a kitten, only to die out a few minutes later. Next step was to drain the tank, and ad fresh fuel. Still no action after that so i pulled the carb, cleaned it and reinstalled. After that he came to life, revved and sounded great. Took it for a spin around the yard then out into the street for a test of the gears. WOW, does this thing ride nice compared to my '77. It shifts so smooth, power is good, and just feels great. Cant wait to spend more time on it. But now i wanna know why my '77 isn't as good as it could be..... that'll be for another day !!!

This is the only picture i could take as i burned the remaining daylight with the repairs.

YEEE HAAAW ! :yellow70:

I agree. I like those black 78's and if I got one, I would keep it totally S-T-O-C-k ! No engine swaps or cdi 12 v upgrades, just plain Jane stock.:6:
