Blizzard of 2014

I've been workin the dog out of my, new to me, Honda snow blower. It's been workin like a champ, BUT, half way through the last outing the auto-throttle seemed to be acting up. Not throttling up as quick as it should. I'm not sure how it works but I'm hoping it was just icing up and will be back after a thaw. Maybe I should find it and hose it down with some WD40 before I use it again.

Sounds like a solid project Kirby. Would you consider a straight up trade for my 1967 Ingersol Brothers, plus gas money for delivery :3:?

I won't lie, it needs some attention.

The clutch on the crank... doesn't. It will swallow and expectorate even the largest newspaper. She's 100% chain drive. Shear pins? Are those translucent hair bobbins? Every shaft is welded with corrosion, the pins are lost in the scrap metal pile somewhere. The two speed trans is really just one usable speed (the other is too fast, good between one driveway and the next). The direction selection lever is requires constant input or it slips out of gear. The right side tire will go flat after 5 weeks, the bushings to rotate the chute are a distant fading memory. The chute wanders like a lost pup.

But, she's got full custom paint (priorities are on track), a muffler that fires right into your crotch (great for keeping things warm) and the nearly brand new side output shaft 6.5HP Tecumseh snow king that fires first pull.

Niagara Falls, ON is in the line of fire for most of the storms that pass north through Michigan / New York State. For whatever reason we didn't get the snow.

-19 C currently = - 2 F. Totally snow accumulation of about 2", yes Two. I pity you guys digging through that crap in that cold.

Lmao, when that old Ingersol dies you should just plant some flowers around it and let it R.I.P. 67 WAS a good year for sure ;)

Kirby whats the model/serial number? it should be located near your feet when using it (on the back of the traction unit). IME, when they don't rev up right away its usually a partial carb clog. they all (almost all) use a centrifugal governor to keep them at the same (usu. 3600) rpm. There's a chance it could have been iced over, but at that point it usually doesn't work at all.

TRG. if you're waiting for that ingersol to die, don't hold your breath or it will be you who goes first! that thing might be a relic, but its not like the new box store junk

oh i see. that's a single stage (meaning there's only 1 part that throws the snow) Is it 2 stroke? or 4? on yours the governor is probably just attached to a spring that holds the throttle partway open. to get at the carb you're probably gonna have to remove the back cover. it should bolt through the handlebars and you might have to remove the keyswitch and gas cap. if there's a dealer nearby get the bowl gaskets, maybe a needle and seat kit (might just be a needle) it's easy.

Appreciate the advice for sure. I'll pick up the kit. Will help to further the bonding experience with this new machine. Lol. This is a four stroke.

They say if you don't like the weather in Michigan, just wait a minute and it will change. Yesterday mornin it was -21 tonight we are expecting 1/2" of rain and 41 degrees tomorrow.

MA must be in the same jetstream. just left my friends house and he says 'its like… warm out' referring to our 34 degree weather. a matter of perspective, i suppose. I'm still selling used snowblowers. we're not out of the woods yet.

You got that right E.D. I don't know about your neck of the woods, but in OKLA, you think it's over and then March turns in to a cruel witch. You never know what you'll get.lol. It could be days of freezing rain, 70deg F, snow, large hail, floods, tornadoes, and then freezing rain/snow again.

Yes, indeed...that ought to be our motto here in the "Great Pothole State". It'd be easier to fit on the state than flag than "where good roads go to die":rip_1:

This is still the part of winter that goes over the fence first(!) If winter could speak in English it'd say, in a loud, Al Pacino voice..."I'M JUST GETTIN' WARMED UP!!!!"

I lived in Pickney, Mi till 2001 (about 10 Miles from Hell). I miss the lakes and beautiful trees, but not the weather. I remember a headline in the paper "Hell Freezes Over" around 1999. It was most likely repeated with this cold weather. Shame the snow is all melting this weekend...

The man on the radio said 14 degrees below zero actual on my way to work this morn. Inside of the Flint Metal Fab I'm guesstimating about low 50's. (Yes, I'm a carpenter at a metal fabricating plant) It's the last day of February, and I say good riddance! COME ON SPRING!!!

I'm so over this cold weather here in michigan.
Every morning is a struggle to start my little tdi diesel Volkswagen.

And, it doesn't appear there is a significant warm up in the near future. Ugh.

Agreed, this shit's getting old and it really doesn't look like we're going to see anything remotely resembling a warmup anytime soon. There's more single-digits "in the mail" for next week.

Can't hardly wait for the flooding and further crumbling of our third-world roads. SE Michigan...does the fun ever start?:34:

We are at 287" of snow here in northwest Colorado! It's been winter since October. Trails should be ready by the end of June. maybe!!!

Another 240mm (9-10") of the white filth delivered fresh to us last night. Rumour has it, weekend highs over 5 Celcius (low 40s). Man I miss riding weather.
