I'm thinking that the yellow Dot on the tire is the heavy spot and is mounted opposite of the air Valve? You can see the dot in the pic also I'm going to mount the front tire with the tread as shown with the V pattern pointing forward. That's important to get right.

Does that sound like a good 10-4 ? Mount it as shown. The top of the pic is where the headlight beam points. ---->

I would think you're correct regarding tire orientation. Think of a farmer's tractor tires; the pointed end of the "V" in the tread points forward for maximum traction. This is a great question, and I hope Racerx weighs in on it.

In many cases the tread pattern of the front tire looks like it should be backwards. I would use the rotation direction arrows and ignore the pattern as a guide

The yellow or red dot gets mounted at the valve stem or in other words lined up with the valve stem. It must be the lightest spot..

Last day for baking! I put on one Final Coat on to make sure its all good, no blemishes I did both rims, one side yesterday and just did the other sides today.

I'm now sure of the mounting rotation & tire valve location also, so I'll set time for the tire mounting tomorrow for sure. I have a neat tire instal Trick I want to try out.

Got The rims ready to go for tomorrow, THey came out better than I anticipated! Check out my custom rim holder! Anyone guess what that is? I didn't just buy that recently, I purchased it from a vendor on ebay about 5 years ago because they were crazy cheap and he had lots of em'. I remember he would start the auction at under a buck.

I thought to get one to use on a bigger CT70 bigger engine instal (my 150 project) .Anyway it turns out that they're crash bars for the Honda cmx250. LOL. THat's a weird twist of fate...I plan to use it on my new Rebel, when its finally delivered.
Looking forward to tomorrow, will finally install the valves & tires.

Alright Sports Fans! Finally the day to Mount has arrived!LOL First thing is to instal the tire valves. Easily done with the Valve pry tool and some soapy water spray!

Its a good idea to remove the brass screw valve insert, so the the tire can vent and make it easier to get on. Thanks OC.

I found this YouTube video from an old school gentleman called WindyUrtnowski and showed this neat Trick!. The idea is to bind the tires so both beads are held together and will pop into the rim with some soapy water, a tire heated in the desert SUN and a Kung Fu Grip. Thats always helpful too.

I marked the rim rotation with a marker for correct installation. I first tried using Tie-Raps to hold the tire but they soon broke away. But they turned out a great holder-in-place while the duct tape is wrapped around the New Tire.


Here's where the wrestling match was held, me against the 12" tire, on the ground, the table wasn't sturdy enough.I finally Won.
Remember to get ALL the duct tape out and off the rim before airing it up.

Afterwards, fill with Air! But dont forget to install the brass valve inlet fitting, like I did.


It airs up nicely and I picture them side by side, 12" and stock 10", not that much difference visually... hopefully they preform better .


During the wrestling match I ended up losing location of the 'yellow dot' So I Goofed that part!

The only SNAFU are the stock mounting bolts need to be a little bit longer! This new 12" rim needs a little bit longer mounting bolt. Then I can mount the hubs on the wheel. I'll find some longer bolts and will start on the other rear tire .

Looks good! IMHO, shops overcharge bigtime to mount/demount tires anymore. I wouldn't pay $20 a pop unless there were no other choice...or the ground gave way during the DIY wrestling match.

THe guy on YouTube said they charge $160 for a full size motorcycle tire at the dealer. Mounted & Balanced.
Here's a couple more pics one with the hub sitting on it. One before being mounted.

On the EarthQuake Front: So it turns out only one person died from both of those Quakes and he lived right here in Pahrump! I'm telling you, it was the worst quake I ever felt and I was in the California earthquake the one that took out parts of the Bay Bridge.

This unlucky man was under his Jeep when the quake hit. The jeep got knocked off the jack stands and crushed him.

Adam, are you planning to use balance beads or rim weights to get these things trued up?

160 is outrageous! I was only charged $50 for a new tube, r&r and balance on a big bike.

Locally, it cost me $51 to replace a pinched tube, including balancing on my S90.

I may of mis heard him but here's the video. I like this old school method.

It's funny how things have a way of crossing over. When you brought up this guy's name I did a search and confirmed what I suspected. Windy Urtnowski is well known in the control line stunt flier model aircraft community.
