Yes, it comes off. And it will need cleaning and re-lube once it has been removed. Here's the 50-50 chance you can go wrong. Mark the assembly with a Sharpie marker before taking the major pieces apart so that you can reassemble it the same.
Otherwise, you have a 50-50 chance of doing it wrong which will leave you with the spark occurring 180 degrees out of phase for the combustion cycle.
