New Guy Honda CT70 Build

Hey guys. My name is Jacob Scroggs. I’m from Brookhaven MS and I’m new to the forum here. I’m starting a 1973 CT70 build and I’d like to share it with you guys. This bike has been in my family since it was new. And the tag I found on it says Louisanna 1977. The old odometer says 7143 miles...so I’d say it was well used. I’m sorry, but I disassembled the bike without take a picture first. So the first I have is the bare frame I will be starting with.

What I do have though, are pictures of all the parts I took off of this bike. I ended up selling all these on eBay, because it’s way above my skill(and patience) level to restore all these parts. Besides the frame, I want this to be a complete aftermarket parts rebuild.

Welcome. I don’t really have much to say at this point but look forward to following along and adding anything I can. I did an aftermarket build and like it a lot.

Hmmm...those parts look very familiar to me...

Welcome to lilHonda Jacob!
I always say... it's going to be quite a challenge to build a entire bike starting with only a frame. But I know it can be done, and I assume that you've done your homework..? Do you have a engine and front end picked out yet??
I look forward to seeing where you take this project.

Hey Kirby,
They should look familiar. LOL. For my engine, I’ll be using the Daytona Anima 190 and my front end is a nice inverted disc brake set up from Phat MX. I hope it turns out cool.

Well it sounds cool so far. You're not messin around!
The Anima 190 has a great reputation. I remember fatcaaat making a very nice remark about it somewhere on this site. He said something like..."For a (something or another) bike, buy a Anima 190 and call it a day." And he knows engines.
For a guy like yourself...with your goals in mind...I think you made a wise choice.

Sorry guys... I’m still trying to learn how to operate this site. I’ve got several pictures I want to upload. But can’t quite get it right. Bare with me.

I read your message on ebay and spent some time searching this site. But I wasn't finding any good info on 12" tires. Did some more searching again today...if you're up for a little reading...

https://lilhonda.com/index.php?search/25275372/&q=tire+clearance&o=date&c[user][0]=5

There is some good info in there...that search...racerx on tire clearance.
I haven't hit the one gold nugget yet, but there is a lot of info mixed in those posts.
Thanks, I’ll check it out. I did a little research and this is what I came up with. For the rear, I went with a 130/70-12 and the front a 120/80-12. Both Kenda KD1s. They haven’t came in yet but I hope they fit...

Now I added the decals. I know these aren’t the correct decals for my 73 Ct70. But these are the decals that I liked the best. And some of the decals are in the wrong spots. But again... it’s just what I liked.

I also changed my vin plate for a new one. It was flat when I got it. So I cut a piece of pipe in half and pressed it in a vise to radius the plate so it would fit the neck tube. I also stamped the vin number on it myself. To be honest, I’m not very pleased how the numbering turned out. But I can live with it.

And here it is... my 4V Daytona Anima 190CC Engine, with electric start. From all the research I’ve done, this should be a great engine. By the way, I’ve never ridden CT70 before.

I bolted the engine to this wooden stand that I had. This should make for a good building stand
