Is there a special tool to use to adjust the valves? I have feeler gauges for the actual adjustment part of it. The last time I did this I used small needle nose pliers on the square nut. I’m trying to find an easier way

You should not have to use a tool. Just your fingers to tighten/loosen after you loosen the 9mm nut with a wrench.

There is a tool, and it ain't cheap.
The smallest adjustable wrench you can find will work plenty well enough.

looks like they fancied them up at some point. The slotted tip in my set broke right away

The first of the bunch is what I used I determined that was .002 how does that look to you guys. Does it look like the first one is the right one?

It looks to me like it's a .008 inches. Should be .002" or .05mm

Ok I’ll have to get some new feeler gauges. What brand do you recommend? I have another set but they are not curved. I guess I can make do with them but they are from harbor freight

Suzuki or Kawi I believe offered a square drive thumb screw tappet holder I remember from my days at those dealerships, but here is a simple hack from the trade I've used for years. It's as simple as a "black robertson" screw head. It's a little sloppy on the tappet screw, but it's an easier way to hold it and lock down the 9mm jam nut.
