That's the lowest mile 70's era bike I remember ever seeing. Would not surprise me if this auction sets a new high dollar amount for this 75 MG.

I hope it does.. If it wasn't for the the patina I described in the auction it would almost look new. I even took a day off work to go get which I never do...

Wow that's so clean I'd almost jump on a plane from OZ to buy it! Love the MGs

Thanks....
I added a high Buy it Now because all the people asking the same question.. I feel if someone wants it bad enough it will cost them otherwise they can ride the auction out and roll the dice. This is one of those bikes that if it doesn't sell oh well.

That bike is so sweet. Just bought an MG and they are mighty few anymore and fewer complete and original. This is going to be an interesting one to watch. Great photos of the model which are also difficult to come by. I've looked for reference.

CTKing that bike is so nice I just couldn't bring myself to ride it. I do want to borrow some parts off of it before you sell it. Just want to see if they fit on my bike too, you know? Then I'll send em right back (there's one PM you won't be replying to:)

$4,075 and reserve not met. This bike could see the 5K mark, if it does it will be the first CT70 I recall to hit that price.

On the first part, agreed...probably worth it, too. As for the second, not even close. First $5K sale was circa 2001, for a Gold K0 with less than 2 original miles. The economy and resale prices went down the old porcelain convenience in `02-`03 and took until `10-`11 to finally surpass the levels seen in the late `90s. There have since been a number of bikes reaching mid $5Ks and I've even seen two that topped the $10K mark over the past three years. Those were no-mileage/time capsule specimens.

Was contacted by a collector friend and he has expressed great interest in it. I personally hope he pulls the trigger on it of course for a lesser price then my BIN. He has a very impressive collection that I have helped him build over the past few years. To me if it goes to someone that will appreciate it as much as him I will be ecstatic. Not to mention I would always get first crack at buying it back.

I guess I will never know the true value of this beauty... My buddy decided to pull the trigger on it and now off to his collection it goes. It is with a big si of relief because I would hate for someone to have bought this bike just to ride it around. I'm trying to convince him into getting a photographer and make a CT70 calendar. I believe that the quality and a good percentage of his bikes would definitely be considered top tier, thus making a top notch calendar if done right.

I'd buy that calendar. Cover 12 years of stock bikes with descriptions for year one. Maybe a Mod or a Frankenbike version after that for year 2 and 3?

Then a beater version (this would be like the minimalist version with mods consisting of duct tape and rope/qualifying requirement that it would have to at least run). Here's where my bikes will...can I say "shine".....okay they'll dull.

Whatever

So did he 'pull the trigger' for over 5k?

Though I did get an offer on eBay for 5k. I told the person I would let them know Saturday. When I talked with my friend prior we agreed on a price slightly lower. He was willing to match but a deal is a deal and I much rather see him have it. Like I said earlier first right of refusal is a good thing to have if he ever wants to sell it I also know that if I ever really wanted one of my bikes back bad enough he would probably let me have it. Win Win for everyone involved.:yahoo:
