Agreed. Headlight bucket is NOT correct. It should be metal with 2 holes in the rear and be stamped HM-10S on the RH side.

Here's a cheap one that will fit your bike.
Good to know they are available and not too expensive, if I decide to do a legitimate restoration someday. Right now I'm just getting the bike up and functional as a trail beater. So much was missing its days of originally are long gone.

Yes, luckily honda used these steel headlight buckets on several bikes over the years, so if there isn't one listed as a "CT70", you can search for a CL, XL or SL 70 bucket. The only bad part about this headlight design is the fact they used a sealed beam design, which makes a burned out headlight bulb expensive! There is a member here who has converted a few over to accept the K0 bulbs, but it requires some surgery and sacrificing a K0 headlight bulb housing.

I've currently got a 12 volt headlight that has replaceable bulbs that fits my bucket. My bucket is marked HM-11N-S on the right side.

Yes, definitely an affordable option for someone just needing a headlight and trim ring @kirrbby. I did use one of these on a build I did for my brothers bike. It fit well and having the replaceable bulb is great. It was a custom build and I was not concerned about keeping the originality to that bike. For my other bikes, I like the look the original k1lights. That's just me though, I'm kinda a stickler for the original look and little details. In your case @nightgrider, if you find an original bucket, this might be just what you need to get a better fitting and functional headlight.

This build is all about basic functionality. Not concerned with originality. Since I have everything to make this bucket work. It's what I'm going to roll with. Thanks for the confirmation and information about what is correct. May go that direction in the future. But for now it's just a budget trail beater.

Back to tidying up the wire harness. About the wire nut, I just didn't feel like digging through that mess of a joint. So we'll just cover it up so it doesn't short circuit and pretend we didn't see it. Haha But making progress.

How is the wiring going ?... should be close to riding time....
Yeah it is close to riding season. Trouble is now the grass is growing and I need to do my annual garage shuffle (mowers to the front and snowblower to the back, plus rearrange all the junk in between). Lol

Progress is moving slow. Did a test fit with the gas tank, and of course... all the connectors on this Chinese harness and the front tank grommet/dampener want to occupy the same space. So I'll have to lengthen the harness a bit. Finding time has been the biggest hurtle, between the usual life time bandit culprits. Progress will probably slow for a bit till I can finish some other home spring projects. Kills me, I really want to just knock out the wiring and get riding.
