1977 CT70 build

I am building a 1977 CT70 from the frame only. I have most of the rear end completed, I have been having some trouble tracking down any fork ears that are in any sort of decent shape for this project. Can anyone here help?

Those are gonna be tough to find. Any of these models, with blinkers, are rare now. The ears were easily destroyed by the blinker stalks being hit.

Take a look at this set. Will take $150 + shipping. The left ear is very good but the tube had a bunch of dents. The right ear is tweaked a bit but the tube is nice.

Shoot me a PM if interested.

Little progress on the “shiney orange” ‘77. Pretty much a roller at this point. Looking around for a Lifan 125, was hoping to find one with a black case……seems like the only ones I have found are only manual transmissions? Anyone here know if there is a semi automatic version of this black cased Lifan available anywhere? I have looked all over eBay and Amazon to no avail?

UGG! Lifan 125. There is no better way to ruin ALL THAT HARD WORK! You will pay more for the correct set of ears than a Lifan 125 costs. SO, I guess you really don't care about finding the right parts. You are going to have a Cadillac with a Vega engine. I have a real Honda fresh, never fired 108cc 4 speed stroker motor for that build. Again, not cheap. $1100. The 108cc will outpace a L125 by 10mph. A lifan125 is going to hurt the value.

I would LOVE to own a nice 77, like that but would go in a totally different direction. To keep the value up. You own a RARE bike bro. My ''K0'' 190 is a dime a dozen. Your bike, you call the shots. Just trying to help you realize it's RARE! L125's vibrate like a son of a bitch also, compared to a Honda. FACT. Buy rubber foot pegs! I did!

When did 77 CT70’s become rare? And why worry about value?

CK1, I’m with ya…..you’ll love the Lifan 125. I’m going to guess there aren’t many, if any, on this site that have built more Lifan powered bikes than myself. In my experiences, they are bulletproof and make the bike a blast to ride. The engine will come with a 14t counter sprocket, swap that out for a 16t or even a 17t, depending on what rear you’re running. If you ever have any questions, hit up my YouTube channel with the same name as I have here. You’ll find videos on my 77 CT70 with Lifan.

Lifan 125's are so 2006! You keep running cheap. 1977 CT70'S ARE RARE AND SO ARE THE PARTS. SHOWS WHAT YOU KNOW!
I learned a long time ago, those that attempt to tear down what someone else is doing, only does it for one reason…..to convince themselves that the path they’re walking is the only path to take. I’ve never understood why someone’s drive to be right will lead them to try and bring others down.

Huh. Thanks a bunch for your support bro
Build your bike! Do it however you please. It's your money and you are your own artist and creator. Don't let others discourage you from enjoying this hobby we all share. There is a wealth of knowledge here and that's what we are here to share. Not to S#!t on people's work even if it doesn't suit your taste or style. Sometimes it's not the things we say, but rather how we say it! I believe the wrong execution was applied here right out of the gate, but that is simply my opinion. Horse racing is made from difference of opinion!! Carry on my friend!

I appreciate ya! Your ‘77 build has been quite the inspiration for my project. I thought the ‘76 bikes were significantly harder to come by……they only made half as many of them, about 5,500 I thought, compared to nearly 12,000 in ‘77. Thanks for all you do. 🙂
