I want to apologize to Mike and CYS. I have always wanted to find a nice original 77. It is one of my favorites and cannot expect you to build it the way I would. Sorry for my rant.
👍🏻👍🏻Well said!

I just came across a pretty clean original looking 77 the other day online. The guy wants $1500 CAD($1100usd) which I thought was a smokin deal! They are out there, just never know when they will pop up. Obviously shipping a bike from canada to you might make it unjustifiable but the price of the bike isn't a whole lot for a clean unit!

We’re good on my end. In all my years of collecting, I seem to go in cycles of what I find. I went a bunch of years looking for a good clean silver tag CT70. I couldn’t find one. Then, once I did, I found three more within the next year. Crazy.
You’ll find the bike you want, most likely when you least expect it.

I looked at the bike JH mentioned and is exactly what I want condition wise and the price point. It's just too far away. :(
1977 was the year I got into riding CT70's. Dad didn't get me a new one, he bought me a used green HK0 from a friend of his. I still have it.

I remember my first bike, in 1971 my dad bought me a well used Z50 with a broken frame and the handlebars touched together at the top, we couldn't afford a new one, he brought it home after work but said I couldn't ride it until we fixed the frame. I remembered I started crying, he must have felt bad, we loaded the bike up that night and took it to the shop he worked at and welded it up, I'm sure he welded it up with a 6011, we didn't know what a wire welder was, I rode until midnight that night before he made me go to bed. I wish I still had that bike, but I did find one just like it to rebuild.

73 was the year dad brought me to the Newark Police motorcycle auction. He paid 27 dollars for my new, used 70 QA50. My older brother tuned it up and I headed out for my maiden voyage! Got a flat in the back after 100 ft. Yea, I cried too!

Somewhere in NJ someone is still wondering whatever happened to their QA  wonder how the cops got it? My parents weren't rolling in extra cash either, 255 was a considerable sum at the time. But I did work for them in the family business and only got a small allowance so it all worked out. Until he sold the business dad always supplied the gas too. Am I the only one here that still has his one owner bike? Been a busy year- first time in a long time that I didn't ride it.

My guess is they were riding the bike that they stole from someone else on the street. NPD couldn't track down the original owner. It takes a lot to get hassled on a mini bike in Newark, they have bigger fish to fry.

My K1 CT70 has been in my family since brand new and purchased in my hometown. It was my mothers bike and now it is fully restored and displayed in my basement. I wish I had the original ownership but mom lost it after all these years and I had to obtain a new one in my name. It wasn't a huge ordeal but woulda been nice to have the original.

See your point. Our town was so small they knew who we were and where we were even headed 😄
Here is my paperwork- Technically it's in my dads name since I was too young, my mom had a spot for everything and saved it all. The parts book and microfiche are the only things that I added.

Little progress on the “shiney orange” ‘77. Pretty much a roller at this point. Looking around for a Lifan 125, was hoping to find one with a black case……seems like the only ones I have found are only manual transmissions? Anyone here know if there is a semi automatic version of this black cased Lifan available anywhere? I have looked all over eBay and Amazon to no avail?
I like the black case engine. here's one I put on my old rider bike.

Looks like it could have come in there from the factory..I like the black motor in the orange frame..maybe not so good in a candy colored bike but orange or mighty green yes!

Yeah the black engine would look good with the 1975 Mighty Green Frame

@CK1 I'm working on a '77 as well right now. I'll be going with a Chinese engine of some variation. Mostly because it fits the budget of the project. My original engine is long gone and in my eyes the bike is only original once. Mine is such a basket case once I'm done there won't be much original left. So might as well just go budget rider.

Nice! You have quite a bit of bike there. I am envious of how many parts you have that I am having or have had significant difficulties sourcing. I started with just a stripped frame. Can’t wait to see what you build!

Thanks I'm doing more of a "rustoration". Just clean it up and get it running and riding. Your bike already looks 100x better than mine ever will. And my fork ears, while present are not in great shape. They are pretty bent up. Someone took a bad spill on my bike at one time. I assume ran it into a tree at speed. The original forks were bent badly.

So, some progress on the build. Got my Vega motor installed. Intake manifold and carb installed, not sure the intake it came with is going to work, seems like it rides the carb a bit too high up, I guess we’ll see. Got the exhaust installed as well, cheapo eBay special for this motor right? Was pleasantly surprised i didn’t have to modify it all to get it to mount up properly. I used a Tbolt exhaust gasket with it. I think my biggest hurdle right now is finding the control switches, 35130-098-661 and 35200-102-772, are these non-existent? Are there any other Honda part numbers that are similar that anyone has had any success with? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

That black motor looks sweet in that orange frame just like I thought it would..good work! Are you looking for only new handle bar switch’s or used ones you could repaint and replace the wire covers? I found new ones for my k-4 build and Im pretty sure there the same on your 77 but it took awhile (over a year) for them to pop up on eBay and they weren’t cheap… I think I might still have my old ones?
