1984 CT70 Stalls

I have a 1984 Honda CT70 which stops running and stalls when the engine heats up. It will restart when the engine cools. Can anyone offer a suggestion as to the cause of this situation?

Time to adjust your valve lash, which is done at TDC with a cold engine.

O'CT has it dead in the crosshairs IMO - .002" both intake and exhuast, you'll most likely find the intake valve needs more adjustment than the exhaust. A pic of your 84 CT would be appreciated...

X3...

You might even go .003" intake/.004" exhaust, temporarily, if you have any doubt as to whether or not they're too tight. If that corrects the problem, you've isolated it and can then readjust the valves to factory spec. If the problem persists, then it's time to check fuel flow to the carburetor as valve clearance would be completely ruled-out. Just remember to readjust the valves, if you use this old-school diagnostic "trick".
