Nice collection! Do you still have the OEM header you pulled from the yellow Passport? If you were to cut off the muffler and send it my way, I'd give you some dollars and really appreciate it. I've been casually looking for one for some time now.

Ruh-roh, look at what the cat dragged home. Never mind that nearly 4 years after my last major posting activity, i still have yet to get on with the other CT70 project.

A very rough, and somewhat incomplete '69 Z50A .. I paid more than i wanted to, but less than what the PO wanted. It's got the good basic bones there, for a rusto-mod. No way that it'll ever be a full-on restoration - not economically viable, on what is there.

I saw this thread for the first time today ,and was literally laughing like an idiot while reading about the living room bike shop .In the 80's ,I was a mechanic in the army at camp Petawawa ,and we had an auto club ,an old building with some tools that we paid $5.00 per hour to use to repair our cars etc after hours.Anyway ,the guy that ran it with his wife ,was about 60 years old ,chain smoker ,black lung cougher kind of a guy ,but honestly a nice man with a kind heart .Anyways ,a fellow I didn't know very well ,burnt the auto tranny out of his 1970's Monte Carlo ,so he pulled it out and started looking for a replacement .The next night ,the guy showed up looking to push the car outside while waiting to find a tranny .The old guy told him he had a surprise for him at his house and his wife would take him to see it .When he got there ,on the coffee table ,was his old tranny ,completely torn apart ,with all the broken pieces in a pail for show and tell .The lady took the tranny apart on her coffee table ,figured out what went wrong ,ordered the parts in ,and told the guy he will get it back the next night ready to go .After the complete shock wore off a little ,he looked at the rest of the living room and it was litered everywhere with engines ,carbs,trannies,and every other kind of dirty grungy auto parts imaginable .She wouldn't accept a dime and it ran like a Swiss watch .
I guess I just wanted to say ,you are not alone ,and it also is not just a male thing .

Things haven't improved any, since i started this forum thread. Indeed, they've worsened - both in terms of space available in the garage, and dedicated use of the living room for mechanical related mayhem. I have yet to figure out how it is that i can still continue to stuff more and more into the garage, with the walls not having blown-out under pressure, yet. I sold the blue C70 Passport off some time ago to make some room (i can only ride one at a time, after all) but an ATV crawled in while i wasn't looking, and other bits and bobs have come in since, when opportunity knocked. No room at all in there now, except to try to suck in your butt, and side-step in to get what you want out, hopefully without being violated in said butt with an errant handlebar along the way.. (not that there is anything wrong with that, of course.. just, not me). First world problems, I know.

I got into a Motor Assisted Bicycle kick over the past winter to build a better replacement for one that i already had built a few years back, so yes .. the living room is pulling double duty still. Stacks of boxes hiding in a corner, disguised by a Japanese 3-fold screen, you have to look through a bicycle frame to watch TV, and be careful where you step should you actually be unwise enough to do a 'social visit' .. you might well do a header, stumbling over a china girl motor and exhaust or two laying hap-hazardly about..

Once i'm done with the MAB thing, this spring - the living room will get reorganized for some more quality time coffee-table Honda building - it's well overdue the time to get that 2nd Honda CT70 rolling, figuratively and literally.

I'm the Master of Procrastination.. i never really came back - other projects shuffled on and off the priority list, Honda world got ignored. I sold a few things, including the beater '69 Z50 and picked up a partially restored '78 Z50, instead.

But here i am, 6 years later, another Winter, no other projects to bump the Hondas.

I didn't really stop eyeballing options for my Hondas.. but some reprioritizing had to be, and was done. I didn't stop collecting parts for either the C70 Passport, nor the CT70.

The C70 got slotted into the living room for this Winter's project, and the disassembly has gotten started.

I made actual progress in ordering paint for the C70 Passport in the last year.. and a C100/EX5 complete front end for the project. It's also had an 88cc kit, oil cooler, and a manual transmission kit squirreled away. Yes. that's a pile of parts boxes on the left of the bike.

I am not aiming for period correctness, obviously. This will be a TRUE World Market Honda bike. Taking South East Asian influences, liberally, with the more technically up to date versions that they received, post-1983. I still intend to retain the classic influences of the series, through retention of handlebars, other styling cues. There will be no hacksaw butchery treatment done to this.

By the time i am done with this Honda round, i'll be down to a very nice single example each of the C70, a CT70, and a Z50. I've never been much for originality.. but prefer function, for the CT70 and C70 to be useful with the demands of the modern world.
