What is the best oil to use in CT70’s my clone has 26 miles on it it’s an 03 trail rider. Any thoughts.
oil spinner should be cleaned at the 300-mile mark, every 1000 miles or once a year, thereafter.
Just 4 more months til she hits the big five oh, maybe it's time.....
Thx I think I’ll go with the castrlThis is an evergreen topic and one that generates almost as much disagreement as politics.
Only use JASO-spec oil, formulated for wet clutch use, IOW motorcycle oil. The short answer take your pick from: Honda GN4, Valvoline, Motul, Castrol, Spectro. Not much point in spending $10/quart for synthetic (Mobil 1, AMSoil) since the best strategy is frequent oil changes (and oil spinner cleanings). For now, you should probably dump the oil, then change it every 100 miles, until there's 1000 miles on the odometer. The oil spinner should be cleaned at the 300-mile mark, every 1000 miles or once a year, thereafter. It's best to drain the oil, and clean the spinner before putting the bike into over-winter storage.
Automotive oil is to be avoided. The friction modifiers and lack of zinc will contaminate the clutch discs and result in rapid shift for wear.
