Has anyone here ported the head on the ct-70 or done a custom valve job for more power. I know that you can stroke them or bore them out but what about regular mods? I have even seen a page that has a supercharged motor. What is the best mods for the least money!

i have a ct70 and ports so big u can fit ur thumb into as well as intake manifold, stainless steel valves from victory, new cam, thinner .023 head gasket, and a nice DIY stainless steel pipe, but u will need to put a 12-volt ignition system or you wont be able rev it past about 4 grand so do that and tighten spark plug gap to about .015-.010 and you should be ok

Yes you can port a stock head. Do you have you own equipment to do it or pay someone to do it? Whats your buget? Better question is what do you want to do more speed or is it time to freshen up the top end? Also what year motor?

Having built and raced air cooled VW's back in the day, unless you have a flow bench, head porting is kind of a trial and error art. Yes, you can clean up the pockets and shorten the guides, match up the ports with the manifolds, but don't expect big results, unless it's done by someone with a lot of experience, and have a compatible, carb, cam, exhaust, etc. A cam will give you top end power but at the expense of the bottom end and the trans ratios aren't close enough to keep you in the narrow power band. There's still no replacement for displacement.
