Brake shoe sizes ct70

Ok my 1973 vin tag CT70 (possibly 1974 blue model) i bought EBC303 brake shoes for the front and rear .I tried to put them in the rear and once in the brake backing plate it doesn't fit in the drum. It's like the brake shoe material is too thick. Everything I found says the EBC303 should be the right shoes for this bike. Has anyone had trouble like this before? Are there different shoes i should be using?
Thanks

The drums all have the same ID. There are some differences with the brake cams. That's why it appears that you have the wrong shoes...for '77-later. That said, there are different listings, some of which differ from what's shown in the pix.

Make sure that the brake cam is sitting flat. That will give you maximum clearance. If the shoes, installed, have an OD beyond ~109mm you will have to order different shoes...or modify these, by filing the flats (that seat pn the cam) which isn't necessarily the best approach.

Oh crap!! I swear I read over and over that the shoes would work for my year. I guess I was wrong or the eBay listing was wrong. The good news is that I also have a 1980 CT70 so I guess it has spare shoes now... I actually thought about putting them in a mill and machining down a few thousandths off each part that goes on the cam. I’ll just buy the right ones now and use these on my 1980 bike. Thanks for the help.

I put the rear back together with the original pads for now. I'm working out some carb cable issues too and wanted to ride it. I know it was put together correctly, kind of hard to screw up... I'll update as I make progress. I assume there is a different part number for the proper year shoes I'll Google that and see.
