Carb cap removal

I purchased a PZ19 from weblic and my stock 1991 throttle carb cap is too small to fit on the carb. My problem is I cannot for the life of me remove my stock carb cap from the throttle cable to use the one that came with the PZ19 carb. Any tricks or ideas?

Thanks in advance.

You have to be smarter than the part you are working on. I really am not sure I have one sitting here I will check it out. Taz

I use a small screwdriver, or good size wire, small wood dowel...etc to push the knot around the corner. They just hang up in the curve of the tube sometimes.

If you have the slide assembly off, you should be able to just slide it off - meaning pull the carb cap assembly downwards so the cable slides through it. As b52 says, the barrel end of the cable sometimes gets stuck in the elbow but a good yank will usually get it free. maybe put a dab of grease on there would help things along.

Push the barrel shaped knot on the end of the cable back through the tube as you pull the cable out. Remove the rubber boot from the top of tube so you can see whats happening. The barrel end hangs up in the possibly dirty rusty curved tube. PUSH it back through.
