CL70: Where do I connect the ground for the battery?

OK, dumb question time...

My CL70 came with a new battery and I've been studying the wiring diagram, but it's unclear as to where the ground cable attaches.
I'm no sure who undid what inside the battery tray.....can someone show me where to attach the negative cable?

Battery (-) goes to green, which is a ground bus. The factory schematic shows this lead going to the silicon rectifier ground lead and tail light ground, both of which are run to the chassis. Set aside where the green lead goes forward, that'll spare you further confusion.

Well, that's what has me confused....

The silicon rectifier lead is attached to the wiring harness with a bullet connector.

The ground at the tail light is here. I cleaned and sanded it for a good connection, BTW.

But the battery, both the old, dead one and the new one I've yet to charge, have this type of connector for the ground:

umm it's the same connector? a 6mm (10mm head) bolt fits in there… in my experience, on the CT90's and similar, the bolt that holds down the battery tray to the frame is where that round connector is bolted to. if you follow the bullet connectors lead to their termination, you will probably find the same 'ring terminal' that is grounded to the frame, like all the rest of the green wires.

the theory here is using the frame (made of steel, an excellent conductor) you can run all the negative connections From there, thus eliminating the need for 2 wires all the way to every accessory. As long as the battery green cable has a good connection to the frame, all the accessories that are grounded should work as designed (like the coil we mentioned).

There is no ground to the frame. The bullet connectors just plug into the main harness. I don't see a threaded place any where around the battery. Maybe I'm missing a battery hold down or something?

OK, maybe that explains it....

Found this diagram and it shows a billet connector on the battery. Guess I should just change that ring out to a bullet and then connect to the main harness. It then gets its ground from the wire leading to the back of the bike; the one I pictured.

oh i see what you mean. yeah you could just solder a bullet on there, if you want to keep everything looking stock. the rectifier is bolted to the frame, and thats probably how the - side of the battery gets to ground.

Thanks, guys.

Now...if you could take a look at my other two threads and give me a GO/No GO on the coil situation, I'm all set to move forward on the engine install next week.
