CT70H Clutch Nut Removal

I am having trouble removing the clutch nut on my HK0. I have the special spanner, and have put a copper penny in the drive gears to stop rotation, but it seems no go. All that happens is the penny shreds. I don't want to force the issue, so I thought I'd seek some advice. Dumb question, but is this nut left hand threaded? i.e., do I have to turn the nut clockwise to loosen it? I tried this gently, but same result. I'm sure there are others out there that have experienced this, can anyone share their tricks? My shop manual stands mute on this, so perhaps someone out there can assist. Thanks in advance...

If you have a air impact driver, use that. I usually use a rubber mallet or the rubber covered hammer handle to smack the spanner wrench handle to break the nut free. If all else fails I use a screwdriver and hammer method. You did bend all the lock washer tabs out of the clutch nut yes? Also are you using a socket type or a spanner wrench?

Had to buy a 1/2" to 3/8" adapter for the spanner-a quick hit with the air impact driver and off it came-no copper penny required.
