Electronic 6v Turn Signal Flasher

In another thread, someone posted about an item from PRC that was ~$1.00 delivered. I decided to take a chance and ordered an electronic flasher for $1.09 delivered. The seller's rating was not good and the specs had a few contradictions....but what can you expect for $1? 3 weeks later it showed up.

Anyway, received it a few days ago and tested it on the bench with 6 volts with a 30w bulb. Worked fine. Same goes for testing with a ~9 watt bulb. Even has a built in buzzer, which can easily be disabled by clipping one wire. Honestly, don't know if you can hear it when mounted under the seat with the engine running.

The seller is: mg-lhpsz

Item Description: USEFUL BIKISMEAR MOTORCYCLE UNIVERSAL 6-12v VOLT LED INDICATOR FLASHER RELAY N9

I don't have a clue as to how long it will last, but I've already had $1 worth of fun. May poke around for LED bulbs, 6 volt flavor, to see what I can find.

Maybe someone will find this helpful, or humorous......

Thanks allenp42 and kirrbby these are definitely interesting. For me it's just hard to comprehend how an item can be made over seas, packaged and shipped being handled by a dozen shippers and a boatload of people. And everyone made money on it (hopefully) and get here for nearly nothing.

I bought two turn signal flashers, along with an LED shot glass... all for less than $5. The way I see it at the flea market you were always buying cheap Chinese crap, just for closer to "domestic" retail. But yes, the shipping, manufacturing and actual products baffle me, for the cost. Makes these minibike top ends seem wayyy overpriced....

Yes thanks I bought 2 flashers. I am running all led on my K3 and may end up needing one some day thanks for the heads up

I've been looking for an endoscope off and on for a few weeks. However, the selection is slim for iPhones. Guess most of the cheaper options don't want to deal with the hassle of getting an app in the Apple app store.

I agree with red69, for sure they are getting a shipping subsidy. But still yet, some of the prices are so low it makes you wonder how they do it.

The one I got can be plugged into a computer too, with a regular USB adapter.

Maybe there is a adapter to go from a Android jack to a iPhone. Or... USB to iPhone.

Just passing along something I found out by accident. The aftermarket electronic turn signal flasher needs to be connected a certain way to work. Black on a 77, or Red on a K3 needs to connect to the "B Terminal". The gray wire goes to the L terminal.

If reversed, the lamps will come on but will not blink.

Since I had an OEM Honda Flasher as well (38300-GF0-405), which is a Mitsuba FR-2208, I decided to to see if was was the same, and if the omission of the turn signal indication in the speedo and on the triple tree had any impact. To make a long story short, It flashes a touch slower and will stop flashing all together at around 5.8 volts w/o the two 1.5 watt bulbs in place. Again, this is with the lamps connect to the L terminal. I was using two 1129 bulbs for the test.

If you reverse the wires on the flasher, you'll see something strange. It will stop flashing, or even light the lamps when the voltage is above ~6.5 volts. Since the wiring diagrams I have don't mention anything about the importance of which wire goes where, just passing it along.

But again, this is perfect word testing and no loss from the wiring, corroded connectors, etc, and using a variable power supply. In my opinion, dirty/corroded connectors could make the flashing somewhat finicky with the OEM flasher relay.

I would just like to add to this thread that I purchased an "led light up shot glass" from the same seller. It has two flat 3v batteries in it. Initially, I thought it was broken, as it wouldn't light up and I couldn't find an on/off switch... $2.44 down the drain I thought... I then realized there's two contacts IN the glass (plastic really), and any present liquid (assuming it's not 'pure' water) completes the circuit and once the glass is emptied it turns off! Spectacular.
Anyways I haven't tried the flasher yet, but Allen, I, glad to hear you did, even monitoring voltage to find its failure point... I'm very happy with this seller, who's probably equally happy with these purchases....

Here's another one that is not advertised to an electronic version, but after checking it.....I believe it is. No clicking sounds and shares the same traits as one reference in the 1st post. No clicking sound, works fine with a 3 watt lamp. B must be for "Battery" and "L" for load". I have no idea if what I received from the Doc is what I should have got. Could be that his inventory changes around a bit.

This one was ordered from DRATV - p/n 77L.

As a side note, DRATV also has an electronic one as well, but the can is a little taller.
