Thanks for the compliments. I haven't used a paint kit since 2000. I source House of Kolor, in quantity, from the distributor... primer to clear coat, and use the "old school" catalyzed midcoat. For the color match, I have a couple of NOS parts in CEG. They get taken into the booth after each coat of candy, for side-by-side comparison under the same lighting. This color requires five coats, as I've got the gun set-up.

The frameset pictured was done at the end of the 2011 season, probably reassembled & ready to hit road by now.

Kev. I read about your situation and would like to help. The paint sold on DrATV is from VMR Paints. Candy paint is not for novice painters, but for those who really understand and have some experience with the process. We include a full detail step-by-step material data sheet with our full kits and encourage painters to always do a spray test prior to the application using an OME part as a reference. You can request a sample paint chip from our website (V M R Paints - Vintage Motorcycle Restorations - Honda CB CL CT SL XL Z50), We are the only paint distributors that sends these hand painted chips using the exact paint sold from our site. As mention, the candy is a very translucent color that is applied over a metallic basecoat in layers. Having the proper basecoat color and flake size is very important as well.

If you decide to repaint the bike contact me directly and I will try to ease some of the cost for a new kit selling it the vendors cost.

Kev,

Did you ever work this little paint problem out? We haven't seen any activity from you in a while. Just curious.
