Came home last night after riding about 10 miles, noticed bike was spewing out alot of white smoke when it idles. However, when i give it gas the smoke disappears. My CT70 is running a Piranha 140cc and it has only 150 miles on a brand new engine. Any advice as to what could be wrong is appreciated. Thanks, Ernie 1977 Honda CT70.jpg

White smoke usually means burning oil. However, over the past two years I've seen a few healthy engines smoking from bad fuel. The exhaust stream looked like the motor was inhaling antifreeze through a failed headgasket...more than weird on an air cooled engine:43:. Draining the "panther piss" & refilling the tank with fresh gas solved the problem.

Check the spark plug for signs of oil fouling. If there are none, you're probably alright. If the plug is oiled, you're going to have to figure out where the oil is entering the combustion chamber. 150 miles ought to be sufficient to seat the rings, though the motor will still be tight.

Valve clearance was at .002 I went ahead and adjusted them to .003 However I did notice some oil by where the exhaust bolts to the engine. I wonder where that came from. Anyway I just started up my bike and I didn't see any smoke maybe it's fixed!

One other thing that has been weird with this engine it pushes the seal for the kick starter and the seal for the sprocket out. I have had to put rtv around the seals to keep (glue) them in place is that weird or what?

Could be a leaking head gasket, valve seal, or ring problem. Might be worthwhile checking/re-torquing the head nuts.
