Fuel capacity ct70 plastic tank

What is the fuel capacity of the stock plastic KO tank? .62gal?

Does anybody know fuel mileage of Lifan 125 semi auto ridden pretty much WFO the whole time.

200 mile off road run is coming up again in Big Bear, Ca and we need to be able to go 90 miles between gas stops. I plan on doing some fuel mileage tests tonight with a GPS to get accurate MPG so I can calculate how much extra we will have to carry.

Thanks

All 6v tanks have the same capacity. Doesn't necessarily matter if you're running a Lifan, Zonger, or Honda engine. Assuming that your carb is dead-on and gearing reasonably close, 50mph average speed burns fuel at the rate of about 90mpg. That said, under the scenario you outlined, best to think conservatively and avoid running out of gas, halfway between "No" and "Where":40:

The only way I'd trust an mpg figure is if it were the result of your actual experience, topping-off the tank and doing the math.

For your purposes, I'd guesstimate 40-45 miles per tankful and carry a 1-gallon gas jug. If you end up having fuel to spare, it beats the :censored: out of the alternative. Better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the reply.

What is the capacity of the stock plastic tank?

I plan on filling up and running until empty and using the stock odometer AND my GPS to get an accurate MPG reading. My missing ingredient is the tank capacity.

We planned on carrying 1.5 gallons each, but it looks like we can get away with a gallon a piece. I just want to be doubly sure and have a safety margin. We won't get a second chance to finish this ride.

Thanks for the reply duggerwild. I found a copy of an 1970 ct70 owner's manual online this morning and this is what is said as well (.65 gal).

FWIW
I filled the tank to max capacity and ran pretty much full throttle and tried to "hot rod" every take off and the bike ran dry at 44.5 miles as verified with GPS. The stock ODO was off by 2/10 mile over. My bike is a Lifan 125cc semi auto. I was cruising at 42-45MPH for most of the run. This translates out to 68MPG.

We are trying to complete the Big Bear Run next weekend and fuel range will be critical.
