HELP PEASE - Which shifting drum is correct?

In both the pictures the shifting drum on the right came out of my CT70HK1 (Engine Serial #CT70HE 204763). The problem is I'm not sure if it is correct. I'm thinking it might be for a three speed, because when the bike did run it would lock up in third gear. The shifting drum on the right came with a 4 speed transmission that I bought. I noticed that the pin placement among other things that are different. My question is, which one should I use? Also, I thought maybe one shifting drum was from an earlier H model. Please, someone help me solve this mystery! Thanks.

Yeah, I was thinking that too, but on the expanded view in the parts catalog it has 4 pins on the outside and 2 smaller pins on the inside. Neither of my mine have that. That's why I'm not sure.

The drum shown in your right-hand photo is a 3-speed drum; those have 4 identical pins, as this one does. K0 & K1 share the same PN. HK0 & HK1 share the same part number between them. However, as can clearly be seen, later production (after SN CT70H-131935) have one stopper plate locating pin. Early & late type 4-speed shift drums are interchangeable; just consider the drum, shift star, stopper plate & center pins as a complete assembly.

In the photos below, K0 on the left, HK0 on the right. The pins are partially obscured behind the lock screw.

Gary,

I was able to find the correct drum off of ebay, so hopefully I'll have it by the end of the week. Luckly my local Honda shop still had a shifting drum stopper plate that the middle smaller pins go in. I showed both drums to the guy at the Honda shop and he said that the one on the right, in the picture goes in a newer 70. Someone before had put the wrong drum in, which may have been part of the reason why the transmission was bad. I'll cross my fingers and pray that there are no other mystery parts.
