I wasn't implying the powder coating was bad. I actually like it, like my carb. :D

Putting a few miles on this thing when I can. Really like the current suspension set up I have on it. The Dr's front replacement springs and heavy duty rear shocks. Noted today that the shifter seal is leaking - bad. This after I already replaced one on the kick starter. Think I need to adjust the carb float a little.

Thanks!

Still seem to have a minor carb issue. Re-adjusted float same problem. Re soaking it and might look at installing some more new parts. Also need to check the tank for obstructions.

What's the issue with the carb? I've been through four or five carbs and have seen it all. Perhaps I can help.

Runs great then will suddenly start spittin' & sputterin' like its running outta fuel. That's why I suspected the float. Have it soakin' now and will re-check and re-install all parts soon. Was considering changing the needle & seat. I know some may suspect the bike's ground since it was repainted however when it starts this and I change from main to res it will usually takes off again. Also if it comes to a complete stop it always starts right up. And it is very intermittent. Also might be something in the tank blocking the lines. The screen did have a little muck on it when I took the carb apart this morning.

You might be on the right track. I would suspect a bad or incorrect needle and seat assembly. I used a couple from aftermarket rebuild kits and the opening is too narrow. They don't allow enough fuel to enter the bowl when you run wide open throttle for long periods of time. The float should be adjusted at or around 25/32nd. Too much more than that, than it will leak out of the overflow. Dr ATV's (Beatrice) sell a needle and seat assembly with the largest orifice I've seen. Plenty of fuel flow.

Additionally, verify your gas cap isn't defective by riding your bike with the cap off and see if the bikes performance improves. If it does, than the gas cap is the culprit.
