K3 Clutch Removal Installation

Hello,

I am in the process of removing my clutch to fix a dis-lodged clutch retraining ring. I ordered a clutch nut tool for the removal. Will use it with my impact driver. Is that the only tool I need to remove the clutch? Also, I have seen an exploded diagram of the clutch but nothing that shows how everything fits. Since the retainer ring has come off I want to make sure I assemble it correctly? Any advice about removing, assembling and installing this clutch.

Thanks as always,

You need an impact driver & JIS screwdriver bit(s) to remove the throwout bearing flange/oil spinner cover screws...w/o a lot of drama & obscene oaths. There should be exploded drawings in the resources folder. Better yet source a hard copy shop manual.

you can same yourself some trouble and probably have a better clutch setup if you buy a new clutch assembly and bolt it on. Everything will be new and you will have HD springs. the above tools will still be needed to complete the job.

Didn't think of that... might have to look into this... Thanks

The only parts that wear out are the plates, friction discs and...eventually, over decades, the springs. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the OEM clutch assembly and replacing the aforementioned parts is easy..

Now, if you wanted to add a lot of displacement, or push rpm much beyond 10000, then it'd make sense to upgrade to a trailbikes HD clutch, with the billet basket, that won't grenade at ~11k. There's a significant cost difference and you get what you pay for. Anything remotely stock-like doesn't need it.
