I'm considering buying a 1971 CT70 but the owner says he DOES NOT have keys. How difficult is it to find keys and what's involved??? Thanks

You would have to ask the seller what number is on the ignition and then contact vintage honda keys. $25 per key.
OR you can buy a new ignition and keys for around $60. So plan on chewing down the seller to knock off $60 if possible.
What's involved is removing retaining ring, the battery box and gas tank to get your hand up in the frame to unplug the connector and green ground wire..

The guy I bought mine from had a lock smith make the keys for him. Mine definitely wasn't stolen, my guess is it sat in a barn for a few years and the keys got lost.

A missing key isn't as suspicious with a 43-year-old CT70, as it would be if one were dealing with a contemporary machine. When in doubt, have the VIN checked.

As for replacing the AWOL key, try hondakeys.com. Last I checked, he was charging a lot less than $25 each, for NOS keys. You will need the alphanumeric code from the keyswitch, simple stuff.
