its able to power the bulbs though

got the meter light to work right...

and the highbeam light...

just ned to figure out the other things as I previously mentioned

Please understand, your nine volt battery has very few amps available with which to do useful lighting work. Yes, it has nine volts but real wattage effort requires amps. Watts = volts x amps.

The nine volt battery will not power a headlamp and probably will not make an OEM flasher work. Although it might make the six volt electronic flasher from Dr ATV actuate but he is currently (pun intended) out of stock.

I'll help you out

But you need to have the bike and the stuff to fix it

'customizing' the harness should just be a matter of moving around where the connectors are connected

You should be able to power the meter light off the switch no problem I'm not sure where you are running into trouble there

Your best to just install the harness and connect it up in the bike itself, you don't need to test it outside the bike test it inside the bike itself

If the harness really did release smoke, I'd throw the entire thing in the garbage and get a new one

Just my thoughts

why you need the bike

Thanks Aaron,

why woudl you need the biek to check if the harness works?

I could just connect it to the battery...

im saying this b/c it would be difficult to bring a non drivable biek to your house.

it would be great if you could pop in for a few mins....after work (my house is like 10min from your work).

the real problem is making sure everything works simulataneosly:

signals flashing, meter light, taillight, headlight, high, etc

what does it mean if I connected the signal circuit up just like the diagram and it doesnt work?

If you have hooked the harness up to the diagram and it doesn't work, it means something has failed somewhere

My advice is to abandoned this harness and buy one

If you want to make one, your best to do it with the bike so you know how long the wires need to be and can route them properly

I make quality wiring harnesses, as I have done that for years on our vision systems at work and have experience doing it

It will cost you more than buying one though, which does not make a lot of sense

I don't think wasting any more time on your existing one is even worth it, you have already wasted so much valuable riding time for just a bit of $

If your harness smoked, something burned, which brings in to question how reliable it will ever again be, even if it works at all

Triumph in the face of adversity

If a man puts his mind to anything he can succeed in it.

I got the signals to work, got the meter light to work they way I want. After much analysis and expermenting I got things to work, much to the surprise of everyone here.

Despite not receiving any proper advice, I still managed to get this to work.

Now I just need to solder wires togehter adn today I bought a new flasher fried the last one.....might of damaged other components too :(

will let you know how it goes

what advice can you folks give me from this point onwards? (besides of course, "get a new harness")

Thanks.:25:
