Old newbie needs help please

Glad to have found this forum. I am new to rebuilding these fun bikes and need help please. I have two project bikes, a 1970 CT70H half factory stock and a 1992 CT70 barnfind basketcase I got for $100. I got the 92 to do first knowing no big loss if I screw up and will use it as a rider around the farm. Taking frame apart and rebuilding went fine, but down to the engine now and though I can read and follow directions, something is wrong. Carb is clean and rebuilt. Coil is good and spark at plug is visible. Had to install a new cylinder head due to a stripped out sparkplug hole that would not accept a sleeve. Being a 92 model, I installed a Chinese cylinder head on it. Went on fine, no leaks. Set flywheel and cam sprocket on correct marks and set valves after watching several youtubes. Plug everything up and kick her and nothing. Not a hint of combustion. Help please. Thx!

Can you post links to the cylinder and head that you installed? Did you get them from a reputable vendor?
Did you check the valve lash?

You have spark.
Now you need air, fuel and compression.

Try putting a little fuel into the spark plug hole before you try to start it. If it runs for a few seconds, you'll know that your carb/tank isn't delivering fuel.

When I'm trying to start a stubborn bike, I put it in 3rd gear and push it around in circles in the driveway, or up and down the street. Get the motor spinnin, and sparkin, and suckin fuel.

Key on.
Kill switch on.
Petcock on...reserve, or, better yet, LOTS of fuel in the tank. (It's easy to cross the fuel lines)
Choke on, and off.
New spark plug?..is the spark blue and snappy?

...I see now that you DID set the valves.

Many thanks for your insight. I went thru each of your suggestions except the valve lash and got it running! Fuel issue is all! Thx for replying.
Also, I am looking for an engine and front forks for my ct70h ko if you have one for sale.
