Something doesn't seem right with this new seat i just got, as you can see it sits up really high on the frame, and there are to metal prongs on both sides that stick out on both sides of the frame.. Does this look right to you guys? I assumed that my seat would sit flush.

thanks

That looks like a Chinese repop seat or maybe a seat from a 1994 model. If so, it won't work correctly on a KO as the seat latch system is missing on repops and I believe is different on the 94 models.

In looking at the picture you will have to do more than remove those prongs. It appears the seat still won't latch the way it is now.

I seem to recall this was brought up here last fall because some of the Chinese repops don't have the built in seat latch in the pan. Trail Buddy We specialize in classic reproduction trail bikes & ct70 has a latch in their body parts section that you can buy to rivet or screw onto the bottom of your pan but I can't vouch for how well it works.

There are a number of different Chinese repop seats on the market. Fitment issues are common as most differ in some way from OEM Honda. The 12v seat latch/locating posts should be the first things to go, they don't interface with anything on a 6v frame. On some, the rubber biscuits are too thick and you may be able to simply replace them with OEM or cut them down. It's been a while since I've seen a Chinese seat with the toolkit holder/latch bracket. On some, it is possible to transplant the OEM bracket from your old seat. Unfortunately, there are a number of different seat pans out there and the newest of them have a diiferent "tunnel" profile that doesn't locate the seat latch bracket where it needs to be without mods. If you're handy with metalfab, some cutting/welding and scrap metal can bridge the gaps. You could use the seat without a latch or toolkit holder.
