Rattle can resto

Ok, so this CT70 was in need of a resto. I wanted to make it fairly nice....but it will be something my kids and wife will ride around on. So making it showroom new was not something I wanted. I polished the old chrome and aluminum, I was able to save most all the chrome. Some new cables, tires, seat and rubber parts were also needed. I blasted most every part that was paintable. I used etching primer, and spray paint on every part that was painted. I used duplicolor for the frame and silver parts, followed by Eastwood catalyzed clear coat, also in a spray can. 1st project for me that used the catalyzed clear coat, I'm very impressed with the quality of this product. So I have less than $50.00 into this paint job, I wont feel too bad when it gets scratched and chipped from the kids having fun.

hoyt that thing looks like it came out pretty good. the paint is close enough nobody's hardly gonna be able to tell. you've got some nice goodies in your garage tooo. not many people are packin a skid steer or a krl snap on box… nice stuff. Oh and the bike is nice too… did i mention that?

Nicely done! I assume you bought new decals as well? Did you strip it down to the frame when you painted it? If not it turned out great... and how did you do it to make sure you didnt get paint on chrome etc? This might be a good idea for one of my beaters.

Yes, excellent work. You did far better with yours than I did with my rattle can Mighty Green ST90 and your decal placement is spot on. I took mine completely apart for bead blasting of the frame down to bare metal. Presumably, you did the same thing.

Thanks guys, I media blasted the frame and all painted parts to bare metal. Bike was completely disassembled.

Tires are shinko trail wing from chp. Nice tires for the money.

This is an excellent example of what I've been saying for a very long time now...it's all in the prep.

Nice work!

Cherry BGM0509

I did base coat all the red with silver first, it seemed to help give it more depth.

Looks great. Those are the same colors I used when I did my first rattle can paint. I started a thread on that a few years ago.
